The original Redmi Note was a huge hit for Xiaomi thanks to its midrange price and solid specs. Now, the Chinese phone-maker may be gearing up to release a metal-clad successor, based on newly leaked photos of the alleged Redmi Note 2.
A series of pictures obtained by GizChina show the device from the back, front, side and top, revealing what looks like a unibody metal design. The device also sports a speaker in back just below the “mi” logo, an audio jack up top and curved corners.
The original Redmi Note offered a 5.5-inch 720p display, an octa-core processor, a 3200mAh battery, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing shooter. GizChina suggests the new model could pack similar specs, along with 2GB of RAM and a larger battery. Hopefully we’ll get a sharper display as well.
It’s been just over a year since the Redmi Note was announced, so Xiaomi is clearly overdue for an upgrade. That means the Note 2 could arrive any day now, though the company may be more focused on its upcoming flagship Mi5.
