Xiaomi just unveiled the Mi5 a few months ago, but the Chinese startup may already be gearing up for a new flagship phone. Company co-founder Lin Bin recently teased the news (via GizmoChina), sparking rumors that the Mi Note 2 could be right around the corner.

The Mi Note 2 is expected to double down on everything fans loved about the original Mi Note (pictured above), packing even better hardware and a phablet-sized screen. That could include a 5.7-inch 2K display, a Snapdragon 821 chip, up to 6GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB/128GB of storage, a 3,600mAh battery and a 16-megapixel rear camera. It could also sport a fingerprint reader in front like on the Mi5.

That all sounds pretty sweet, but we wouldn’t too excited just yet. Xiaomi hasn’t really confirmed anything and some of these Mi Note 2 rumors are pretty old, so it’s possible the company’s tweaked a few specs since then. The device will probably also be limited to China and a few other markets where Xiaomi operates, so don’t hold out for a U.S. launch anytime soon.
