Xiaomi’s long-rumored laptop may finally be ready to launch. The alleged Mi Notebook could arrive at the company’s big event next week, but a new leak may have spilled all the details ahead of time.
A batch of alleged slides and renders spotted by GizmoChina reveal potential hardware, pricing and even some images of the Mi Notebook. The site notes that it can’t confirm these details are authentic. So, please take them with a grain of salt.
The laptop will apparently come in two main variants. There’s a Pro model packed with high-end hardware, including a Core i7 processor, a GTX 970 graphics card, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage and a 4K display for 6,699 yuan (about $1,000). There’s also a standard Mi Notebook with a Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for 3,999 yuan ($599).
Neither version of the Mi Notebook will be super budget-friendly, though they both still come in lower than what we’d likely see with those configurations. That might be a hard sell Xiaomi’s core fanbase, which has come to expect extremely competitive pricing. However, the laptop’s design may be its saving grace.
The leaked renders tease a sleek metal laptop with plenty of ports. Lilliputting notes that the device looks suspiciously similar to the ASUS ZenBook Pro, suggesting these images could be fake. But based on earlier leaks we’re still expecting some sort of metal frame for the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Notebook.
Either way, we should know pretty soon. Xiaomi’s next big event is set for July 27 where we may get an official look at the Mi Notebook along with a new smartphone or two.
