See full gallery on TechnoBuffaloXiaomi‘s long-rumored MacBook competitor is finally here and it’s a real stunner. The Mi Notebook Air comes in two different sizes (13.3 inches or 12.5 inches) and offers some seriously impressive hardware along with the cutthroat pricing the Chinese company is known for.
Both models feature a sleek metal design that’s totally clean on the outside without a logo in sight. Xiaomi says it did that so customers could personalize the Mi Notebook Air however they want. The laptop also features USB-C, a full-sized backlit keyboard, and a beautiful edge-to-edge glass panel with thin bezels.
The Mi Notebook Air runs Windows 10 Home with a few special modifications. That includes an auto-unlock feature that uses Xiaomi’s Mi Band 2 to skip the password login screen. It also features Mi Cloud Sync so all the photos you take on your Xiaomi smartphone will show up on the laptop, too.
The larger Mi Notebook Air features a 13.3-inch Full HD display, an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of expandable storage, NVIDIA’s GeForce 940MX graphics card, and a 9.5-hour battery that can charge 50 percent in just 30 minutes. It costs 4999 yuan (about $750).
The smaller Mi Notebook Air offers a 12.5-inch display and a super-slim 12.9mm frame that weighs just 1.07kg (about 2.4 pounds). It also packs a Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and an 11.5-hour battery. It’s priced at just 3499 yuan (about $525).
The Mi Notebook Air is set to launch on August 2 in China. The company hasn’t said whether it plans to sell the device abroad, but we don’t expect it to be available in the U.S. anytime soon.
