Xiaomi unveiled a couple of new products during a press conference in China on Wednesday, including a new MacBook Air competitor and a fresh Android smartphone. The latter is dubbed the “Redmi Pro” and, as most Xiaomi products do, offers compelling specs at an affordable price.
TechCrunch, which reported from the event, noted that the Redmi Pro is the first Xiaomi smartphone to adopt OLED display technology. Long in use in Samsung smartphones, OLED displays help provide popping colors and increased brightness while also helping users save battery life.
Other features of the Redmi Pro include dual cameras on the back – one 5MP sensor and another 13MP sensor for “DSLR-style images, according to Tech Crunch – a 5.5-inch display and 3GB-4GB of RAM, depending on the model you choose.
The entry-level Xiaomi Redmi Pro starts at about $225 and includes 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM. A middle model is priced at about $255 and includes 64GB of storage with 3GB of RAM, while a top-tier option is priced at about $300 and includes 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. All models are equipped with a MediaTek Helio CPU.
The Redmi Pro will launch in China on August 6.
