We’re still waiting for Xiaomi to unveil the long-rumored Mi Note 2, and a new leak photo suggests the device may live up to the hype. The latest image shows a sleek metal smartphone with a curved display to compete with the new Galaxy Note 7.
The Mi Note 2 may actually come in two different variants, a standard flat-screened model and a higher-end curved version. Samsung will offer the Galaxy Note 7 in a single curvy variant. Chinese shoppers who prefer a traditional slab design may be better off waiting for Xiaomi’s new handset.
Xiaomi’s new phone may also beat out the Galaxy Note 7 when it comes to specs. Both devices are expected to offer a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, but the Mi Note 2 could offer 6GB of RAM compared to Samsung’s 4GB smartphone. Xiaomi will allegedly also pack in a larger 4,000mAh battery, and the device could undercut Samsung with a price as low as $526 in China.
There’s still a lot of speculation surrounding the Mi Note 2, so we’d treat all these rumored specs with suspicion. Still, it sounds like Xiaomi could give Samsung a real run for its money later this summer once both new phones are released.
