The Xiaomi Mi5 has been making headlines for months, but a new report reveals even more details about the upcoming flagship phone. Weibo leaker KJuma claims the company also has a supersized Mi5 Plus in the works, and offers up a list of hardware specifications for both rumored handsets.
The standard Mi5 will allegedly offer a 5.2-inch Quad HD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass. It will also reportedly pack a Snapdragon 810 processor, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 13-megapixel front-facing camera and a 3,000mAh battery. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, though heavily modified by Xiaomi’s own MiUI software, and will reportedly cost 2399 yuan (roughly $386).
Meanwhile the Mi5 Plus kicks everything up a notch. It reportedly packs a 5.7-inch display with the same Quad HD resolution, a Snapdragon 820 chip, a 3500mAh battery, a 23-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel shooter up front. There’s no mention of price, but we’re assuming it costs at least a little bit more than the standard Xiaomi Mi5.
Earlier reports also claimed the new phone would include some sort of fingerprint reader. There’s no mention of that here, though we’re not ruling it out entirely. It’s also possible Xiaomi could reserve that particular feature for the more expensive Mi5 Plus.
Either way we can’t wait to see what the Chinese phone-maker has planned, even if it still doesn’t have any concrete plans to sell its handsets here in the U.S.
