See full gallery on TechnoBuffaloWhen Xiaomi announced plans for a big announcement on July 16, we assumed the company would reveal the highly anticipated Mi5. Instead it looks like we may get the successor to the popular midrange Redmi Note phablet.
The device recently passed through TENAA in certification in China, clearing it for landing just days ahead of the big event. The new filing also reveals a few key details about Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 2. The device apparently packs a 1080p display measuring either 5.5 or 5.7 inches. It also features a Snapdragon 615 processor, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3020mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of storage.
We’re also expecting a slick unibody metal design for the Redmi Note 2. It actually looks pretty similar to the device teased in last week’s invite. Then again, the super-slim handset revealed by Xiaomi doesn’t exactly match up perfectly with this chunkier phablet.
It’s possible the Chinese phone-maker could unveil two new devices this week: a mid-range Redmi Note and a flagship Mi5. There’s also that rumored Mi5 Plus, though we’re not expecting it to arrive until later when it can take advantage of Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 820 chip.
