The Mi 4i is finally here, and it’s Xiaomi’s cheapest flagship yet. The colorful plastic handset was unveiled on Thursday in India, where it will sell for 12,999 Indian rupees. That’s just around $200 off-contract for some pretty solid hardware.

Xiaomi’s latest phone packs a 5-inch 1080p display, a 3120mAh battery with quick charging support, a Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, a 13-megapixel camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and Android 5.0 Lollipop. It’s also 12 percent thinner and 13 percent lighter than last year’s Mi4.

The Mi 4i also runs the latest version of Xiaomi’s own software. MiUI 6 offers plenty of new features, including something called Interactive Voice Recognition that should help guide you through robotic service calls. There’s also some new camera software, with an updated “beautify” feature, color correction and more.

The design looks pretty nice, though it’s on the more playful side. The Mi 4i looks a lot like recent colorful Lumia handsets or even Apple’s iPhone 5c. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but we prefer the classic metal look of the original Mi4.

Xiaomi is launching in India first, with preorders kicking off on April 30 via Flipkart (the local version of Amazon). It should be available across much of Asia in the near future, though the company still hasn’t expanded beyond its core market for now.
