Xiaomi is gearing up for a press event next week, and rumor has it the company could have an armload of new devices to announce. That includes at least one new phone, an upgraded tablet and maybe even the firm’s first smartwatch.
According to Chinese tipster Leaksfly, the company will release a new watch at the upcoming event. The post doesn’t include any other details, though this isn’t the first time we’ve heard whispers of a Xiaomi smartwatch. According to earlier reports, the device could target the high-end market with a brushed metal design. The new wearable would run a modified version of Xiaomi’s Android-based MiUI.
Xiaomi recently unveiled a second-generation version of its Mi Band. The new device costs just $15 and packs a heart rate monitor along with a water-resistant design. It also works with both iOS and Android devices. Hopefully this next Xiaomi smartwatch can offer everything included with the Mi Band and more. We’re also curious to see how the company adopts its customized software to a smaller display.
Of course, this rumored wearable is still just that, a rumor, but we’re still excited to see whether it makes an appearance onstage next week during Xiaomi’s big event.
