The wait for Xiaomi’s Mi Note 2 is almost over, but when the device finally arrives it could be under an unexpected new name. A fresh report out of China claims the flagship phone might be branded as the “Mi Pro” instead.

Xiaomi actually prompted rumors of the new change after establishing a new account on Chinese social media service Weibo for the Mi Pro. It’s unclear why Xiaomi would want to ditch the Mi Note brand, especially considering the popularity of the original model. However, simplifying the name could also help establish a clear flagship option within the company’s increasingly cluttered lineup.

The Mi Note 2/Mi Pro is expected to be Xiaomi’s most powerful smartphone so far. It could offer a 5.7-inch Quad HD curved display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, dual rear cameras, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It could also be one of the first devices to launch with Android Nougat software.

The new smartphone allegedly start at around $450, but that may be for a less impressive version with a flat-screen 1080p display. The Mi Note 2/Mi Pro is expected to debut at an event on September 14 and launch later this month in China, so we should get the final details pretty soon.
