See full gallery on TechnoBuffaloXiaomi’s Mi Box, a set-top box that runs Android TV, is coming to the U.S. later this year. And while it doesn’t look any different from other competing devices on the market, it has a neat trick up its sleeve: 60 fps 4K video.
With 4K superpowers, the Mi Box becomes only the second Android TV box to stream 4K content, NVIDIA’s Shield being the other one. (Amazon’s Fire TV also streams in 4K, but that doesn’t run Android TV.) Meanwhile, the Mi Box is Google Cast-ready, which means you don’t need an extra dongle or compatible TV to utilize the feature.
The device comes with a controller that supports voice recognition and it’ll also be compatible with a game controller that’s sold separately. As for specs, the Mi Box sports 2GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage, making it a little powerhouse of a device. No other big details were revealed, such as price or when it’ll actually launch, but we should learn more fairly soon.
